Bible in One Year Passages:
Matthew 27:57-66, Romans 15:1-13, Deuteronomy 30-31
But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay!
In this Psalm, David lifts up a petition to God to deliver him from those who seek to destroy him. In reading this, one can sense the urgency in the prayer that cries out to God. Despite the trouble that he faces instead of turning away from God and being destroyed, David continues to seek out God and cry out to Him in desperation.
I must continue to learn to be patient and diligent in seeking God especially in times of trouble. Our enemy has victory only when he drives us away from God especially in times of turmoil or affliction. In Hebrews 11:6, it states, “without faith it is impossible to please God… He rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Gracious God, as I read through this Psalm, I am reminded of this truth in particular that you reward those who earnestly seek you even in times of trouble. Help me to have the patience and perseverance to draw closer and closer to you and not be driven away from you, even in times of trouble. Father, I seek your presence and that power of your grace will be made perfect in my weakness. In Christ Name, Amen.
