Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God, you are very great! (Psalm 104:1a)

Observation

This psalm begins with the exclamation of the psalmist, his confession of God's greatness. It is because of God's hands upon all creations -- he has the reasons, his timing, and his hands upon everything on earth that he has created, and his care and continual protection and work behind all that we see. The foundation of the earth was set by Him; the mountains and valleys were positioned according to His appointment; the waters were released and controlled by His setting, and used to water all creatures - causing them to grow and bear fruit accordingly; the grass and the plants get cultivated to fulfill HIs purpose of feeding livestocks and men; trees, mountains and rocks all have purposes; the moon and the sun were made to mark the seasons and time by God for all that live on this earth. Thus, how can we not confess God's greatness, blessing His name!?!

Application

As we look around us, we can find the purpose and hands of God all around us. However, I go about the days -- seeing the clouds, feeling the winds, seeing the trees and mountains, and rocks-- but seldom worshipping God -- for I do not pause to see, feel, hear, smell, and appreciate how He is all around. I often go about doing my own things, busy with my agenda and my works, consumed with my thoughts. But all these are within and under God's hands, HIs initiation, and HIs intentions. How much do I need to pause, and lift up my eyes, my heart to see what He has already done, and continues to do and be.
This morning, I see the clouds covered the mountains behind my home right now. I praise the Lord, for it reflects His mystery to me.
Yes, i will resolve to pause twice today for 5 min each, to appreciate HIM -- to experience His greatness all around me!

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for your creation that is so real and so here, with me.
Thank you, Lord, for your purpose, intention, and work behind all that you created.
Thank you, for your care, the care that is so delicate and intentional.
Help me, O Lord, to breathe in the midst of your creation, fully experiencing and noticing and responding to what you have done and is continuing. Help me today, to stop and praise: "Bless the Lord! O Lord, my God, you are VERY GREAT!" in the name of Jesus, Amen.
