Bible in One Year Passages:
13: And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved
In mark 13:1-13 Jesus paints a disturbing picture of the end times. He describes the world in chaos and persecution of those who believe in him. There will be false prophets proclaiming to be the Savior to lead the faithful astray. Parents and children will rise against each other and have them put to death. These scenes are almost reminiscent of some strange apocalyptic movie but these are descriptive warnings from Jesus himself. Jesus ends with a call of perseverance by saying “but the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Even with such darkness in the end times God saves those who trust and believes in Him.
It almost seem as though what Jesus is describing is happening today. There is a certain sense of chaos in the world with all the wars, religious hatred, political upheaval and natural disasters. Is he talking to us now, is the end times near? Whether it is or if it isn’t Jesus is warning us in verse 9 “But be on your guard.” Whatever time this may be we as believers need to hold fast to God’s truth and let nothing waiver our conviction that Jesus died for our sins and we are His child.
Lord give me the strength in the times which I live in to proclaim you as my Lord and Savior. Give me the strength when I’m persecuted to profess my faith in you. In my weakness empower me with your Holy Spirit so that nothing will shake my trust in you. Thanks you for loving me as much as you do, this sinner, and giving me hope in times of trials and chaos. It is your peace and your promise that sustains me. All glory to you. Amen
