Bible in One Year Passages:
And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! Pray that it may not happen in winter. (v. 17 & 18) For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard... (v.22 & 23)
The term, "abomination of desolation", has caught my attention (I must say, though not proud, for the first time in my life...), and so I spent a fair amount of time reading some of the Bible commentaries available online, hoping to gain a better understanding.
For anyone who's interested in investigating deeper into this, I have found the Coffman Commentaries on the Old and New Testament quite helpful (http://southernhills.searchgodsword.org/com/bcc/view.cgi?book=mr&chapter=013) , along with Matthew Henry Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible (http://southernhills.searchgodsword.org/com/mhc-con/view.cgi?book=mr&chapter=013).
His warning back then is just as valuable warning for us today, and I must continue to dwell in His Word, being of sober spirit.
Thank you, Lord, for allowing me time and heart to dig deeper into your Word, learning of your forewarning that is applicable even to this very day. As all these commentaries are also available online, I find it harder to excuse myself from gaining more understanding of your Word. May my heart and soul "be on guard" through your Word, the Holy Bible, that is so readily available within reach at all times... In Jesus' name.
