Bible in One Year Passages:
Mark 9:38-50, 2 Corinthians 1:1-11, 1 Samuel 1-2
6 Oh Come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand (Psalm 95:6-7a).
Unlike how some might view God to be, God of the Scripture is not some aloof supernatural “higher power” who is too “big” to care for the “little” human affairs. So what is God like? According to the confession of the psalmist, God is powerful enough to command our worship as our Creator (v.9), but also intimate enough to care for the minutia of our mundane life as our Shepherd (v.10). In other words, our God is not only powerful, but he deeply cares for us for we are his beloved. That’s who God is to all those who have come to know God through our faith in Jesus Christ. What a gift we have in and because of Jesus Christ! Our God is our living hope.
Throughout this day, I will meditate on who my God is—the God who is not only all powerful, but all loving and caring toward me for I am his own.
Abba Father, I am so grateful to be able to call out to you as MY Abba. Had I not known you as MY Abba, your power would have intimidated me. Yet, as your child, your power gives me security like none other can because I know that my life is securely placed in your loving hands—the hands of the almighty God who is the Creator of the Universe. So, thank you for being in my life and for inviting me into this intimate relationship with you. What a precious gift you are, my Abba. It is in Christ name I pray. Amen.
