Mark 14:66-72, Galatians 3:15-29, 2 Samuel 16-17
"Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments!" (Psalm 112:1)
This psalm praises the man who fears the Lord, who honors and worships the Lord. The primary evidence of those who fear God is their life of obedience, "greatly delights in his commandments" (v.1). It means that they take pleasure in obeying God's commands. It's joyful obedience from the heart. For those who truly have a heart that reveres God, obedience becomes a delight. As Jesus said in John 14:21, "Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me." As verse 1 indicates, there is a direct relationship between loving God and obeying His Words. You cannot possibly love God without willfully obeying His commandments.
The obedience of Christian life can be easily viewed as a burden, instead of a delight. It's the difference between "I have to ..." and "I want to ..." As I start a new day today, I want to find myself, greatly delighted in God's commands, instead of any other worldly pleasures. I would like my heart to be intently focused on what He has to speak to me and live accordingly simply because I love and worship the Lord.
Lord, thank you that you're inviting me to walk and fellowship with you today. Lord, help me to walk in your truth as I seek to live in your presence throughout the day today. May Your Word be the food that I eat and the source of my strength. Lord, I worship You with my whole heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
