Bible in One Year Passages:
v.39 And when the Centurion who stood facing him saw that in this way he breathed the last, he said "truly this man was the Son of God!"
In the last hours before Jesus had died, the centurion was there to witness the entire event. He watched and stood by Jesus. He knew Jesus to be the Son of God. Based on other passages in the Bible, Luke Chapter 7, he was the one to seek out Jesus on behalf of his servants. He reached out to Jesus with faith and conviction of knowing Jesus as the Son of God. He stood out in this passage as the one who stood facing Jesus until the end while others turned away. His unwavering faith has caused me to think about how I'm living out my christian life.
As I reflect on how centurion stood by Jesus until the end, he reminded me of Apostle Paul who also stood by Jesus faithfully. Though they lived a different life and lifestyle, they had one thing in common. They lived out their life to be faithful to the Lord. Althouh I try, I've been unfaithful in many parts of my life. These two people's examples are wonderful reminder for me today. I too desire to stand firm and be faithful to Jesus throughout my life.
Lord, may I live my life to be faithful just as the centurion lived. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
