Bible in One Year Passages:
Mark 10:46-52, 2 Corinthians 4:1-6, 1 Samuel 9-10
Psalm 99: 4-5
4 The King in his might loves justice. You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!
God is holy. Cherubims declare it and we, as his people, exalt the LORD our God by worshiping him and declare that He is holy. He loves justice and executes justice. God who is perfect can do nothing less. These passages are a declaration of who God is.
There are times when I feel that God didn't give me what I deserve and I say, "God, you are not fair!" At other times when He seems to overlook other's guilt or shortcoming I say, "God, you are not fair!" But God by his very nature is fair. He loves justice and executes it. Despite my complaints, my Heavenly Father is patient with me and works in me daily to teach me.
It is hard to appreciate that "God is holy." Here I am, a sinner with selfish and limited understanding of the great God, accusing Him of being unfair. God is more than fair. He did not spare his own son to die FOR ME so his justice can be met. God is holy yet I don't revere Him enough because He is too approachable. He allows even my misguided complaints. He welcomes me with open arms. He melts my hardened heart by the demonstration of His unconditional love. God is holy.
I will pray to my Heavenly Father today, acknowleging that He is perfect and Holy. His plan and timing is perfect. He works in all things for the good of those who love Him. And though I don't always understand how and why things work out the way they do, I believe that He is perfectly just and righteous.
Father, thank you for letting me ask any question. I feel comfortable asking and even complaining to you. But just as Jesus yielded his will to yours, I submit mine to you. I yield my objections to you because I know that you are just and loving. I know that you are Holy. As I learn who you really are, my questions become more insignificant. Please continue to change me and teach me the right questions to ask.
