Bible in One Year Passages:
John 12:20-26, 1 John 4:1-6, Ezekiel 40-41
Though he slay me, I will hope in him;(job 3:15a)
Job is struggling to grasp and to understand why all the tragedies and calamities are occurring around and against him. To add and insult to injury, his "friends" who are supposedly there to comfort and to encourage him ends up being cynical of Job, suggesting, alleging and accusing of Job being secretly living a "sinful & "unjust" life. It must have been difficult to sit there to listen to others accusing him and blaming Job for what is happening while suffering from the physical condition and even more so with a BIG questions on him mind "WHY". YET, we see Job standing steadfast before God, not willing to blame or accuse God, but being humble and trust in God. This is an incredible statement of faith on Job. "Though he slay me, I will hope in him"....
Looking at Job and how he has responded to the "testing" even to the point of "trusting" and being "faithful" to God when humanly speaking it is utterly "hopeless" is such an incredible testimony. This is even more so knowing that Job did not deserve this. Let us strive to possess such "faith" and such "trust" in God and be able to say "though he slay me, I will hope in him" even though I don't understand.
Lord, grant me the "faith" and "trust" in You like Job. Give me a courage to stand and testify to your faith in times of trouble and difficulties. Lord, may your name be praised and worshiped forever. Amen
