Bible in One Year Passages:
John 7:45-53, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Lamentations 3
I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he grazes among the lilies.
Throughout the book of Song of Solomon, the word beloved is used over and over again. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines beloved as “dearly loved, dear to the heart.” The word is used to describe a person who is dearly loved such as a wife or husband.
As I reflect on my relationships with my wife and children, I recall that there were at times such intense affection and love. From my first date to the day that I said “I do” at our wedding or the first year of infancy when our first daughter was born, the intimacy and bond shared was like no other. But as time progresses, life’s circumstances arise and the intensity once realized seems to fade away. However, God’s desire in our lives is to see the love burn continuously and remain steadfast where I can express my love and affection to my wife and children each and every day.
Lord Jesus, I must confess, I get caught up in life’s circumstance and get entangled by the thorns of life to where I stray away from expressing my love to those that are dear to my heart. Forgive me Lord and help me to constantly reminded of the overflowing blessings in the relationships you have bestowed upon me and each and every day I will long to confidently say “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine…” In Christ Name, Amen
