Bible in One Year Passages:
Jesus said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
I once heard someone say that the most important question one must wrestle with is: "Who am I?" However, according to the conversation in our passage, there seems to be even more fundamental and important question one must ask and settle before all other questions and that is: "Whose am I?" As Jesus points out, a denarius belongs to Caesar because it bears the image of Caesar. Along the same line, each of us belongs to God--we are God's--because we bear the image of God, our Maker. Where in my life am I lacking rendering to God what is God's?
I will joyfully render to God all of my time and energy in serving Him and His Kingdom purpose throughout this day.
Abba, thank you so much for the much-needed reminder that I am yours and thus all I have is yours as well. Please help me to cultivate a heart that joyfully renders to you all that you ask of me on this day for the furtherance of your kingdom. Here I am. Use me however you want to use me this day for your glory. It is in Christ name I pray. Amen.
