Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 22:7-13, Hebrews 6:1-12, Isaiah 25-27
12 The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge,
but he overthrows the words of the traitor.
I think the verse 12 is one of the key verses in these passages. It says, “The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the traitor.”
The best source of knowledge is found in the Bible inspired by God Himself. In these passages, it talks about handling material possession such as how the borrower is slave to the lender. A man with bountiful eye or generous man will himself be blessed when he shares with the poor. It also mentions the foolishness of sluggard and valuing diligence. He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich will both come to poverty.
Other passages talk about the importance of gracious words spoken will win king for a friend while scoffer or mocker will bring strife, quarrels and insults. Mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit. It looks like gracious speech comes out of pure heart. Folly is in the heart of a child but he can change or be corrected with training and discipline God gives especially through parents.
The result of the man who lives his life based on the knowledge from the Bible will have the Lord to watch over his life!
There are three ways that I can apply the knowledge that I read today.
I think I will continue to volunteer my time in downtown serving the urban poor in spite of my increased work load. I was contemplating about not doing it anymore but it will serve as a good reminder of God’s heart for the poor.
Secondly, I will remember the poor and not oppress them. I can apply this at my work place by paying special attention to those who are in the lowest ranks. I will look out for their interests as they don’t have as much margin in their finance and be treated better.
Thirdly, I wish I can be more disciplined in my speech and it seems like it’s possible if I listen to God’s training and discipline. I will listen more than speak and not complain but pray and look for ways to change for better.
Lord God, thank you for all the wisdom and knowledge that you give when I just sit and listen to you. I love the ways you show me today how I can apply your truths. Please grant me the discipline, determination and faithfulness to follow through. And pray that you will watch over me and all those who strive to follow you and obey your words. In Christ’s Name, Amen
