Scripture

And he said to them, "i have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer." vs 15

Observation

Jesus' last super with his disciples before the crucifixion and installing this as the Lord's Super afterward to follow by the believers.
With this familiar passage to us, the verse 15 caught my attention: that Jesus earnestly desired to eat this Passover. He really wanted to have this meal with the disciples. To share this festival of Passover and the Unleavened Bread, the celebration of the salvation of Israel from Egypt's slavery thru the sacrifice of lamb! Jesus knew what was going to happen -- his suffering -- yet, he really wanted to share this meal.
Why? For this is the last meal, and he wants to share what's in his heart. For it is the last meal together until the next time--when the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God comes, the return of Christ. For soon after this meal, the new covenant would be established thru his own blood and broken body, that is for all people.
Not only Jesus wanted to share this meal with his disciples, but also to do this in remembrance of him. To take part in the Lord's Super -- as a remembrance of his sacrifice on the cross for our salvation and the salvation for all, to publicly and as a group to take a part in this new covenant that was established during this last passover by Jesus.
And Jesus longed for this. He earnestly desired this, he desired it with desire. A full of emotion, intense longing, to share with the disciples. Here I feel his emotions here, not only willful commitment to fulfill what He came to do, but emotional attachment to his followers and his desire for share the last with them. It could have been very dreadful meal for Jesus -- the Passover meal, the last meal, the meal before crucifixion. But Jesus longed for it, earnestly desired for it. For He knew what it meant.

Application

I want to do things, with eagerness and passion. Not out of duty only--sometimes there are things that we need to pay attention and carry out out of duty-- but also out of passion and longing--that even in those responsibilities that call us to tend to, I could remind myself of why they are required of. Then, it will help me to carry them on with passion and desire and joy, more than just carrying on the duties.

Prayer

Jesus, help me to see beyond what's immediate, when I am faced with some challenging and not so enjoyable tasks. Thus, I may encounter each step of the way with full of joy and passion.
I want to look to you, Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. in Jesus' name, Amen.
