Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 22:14-23, Hebrews 6:13-20, Isaiah 28-30
Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge,
for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you,
if all of them are ready on your lips, (vs 17-18)
Here is the posture toward the words of the wise -- the truth: be attentive to the words of the wise and really hear them--understand them. Then, apply our hearts to them - to bring our hearts aligned with the wise words of God, rather than trying to apply the words into my life. It is about bringing my life under the Word of the truth. Then, it will be pleasant and well, not only we live accordingly - keeping them within our lives-- but also we are able to share the words of knowledge/truth with others. The wise sayings following can be only effective, not only thru this posture, but also by the commitment to submit under them.
I am struck by the core -- that it's not about using the word of God to make my life better, but adjusting my life according to the word of God. It's not about having God make my life better, but have my life submitted to His truth. How often do I consider God and His truth to make my points and my life better -- treat it as a means for my life -- instead of giving the proper and rightful place to the Word of God and surrendering myself under it?
Father, forgive me of my tendency to use you for the betterment of my life. I am yours and I am here for You, not the other way around.
Reveal within me today, from the big to the little matters of life, if there is any that I have tried to add You in, rather than submitting to You.
Help me, Lord, that i may be fully awaken to You and Your truth, and ready to bow my life under Your truth in faith.
Thank you for the truth this morning, In Jesus name, amen.
