Bible in One Year Passages:
V.32 They said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?" V.33And They rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, V34saying, "The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!"V35Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the road.
As the two men were on their way to the village called Emmaus, they met Jesus. He walked along with them, talked with them, broke bread with them. He really spent quality time with them. Jesus also had teachable moments with them as Jesus interpreted the scriptures concerning Himself, suffering, and His Glory through suffering. As they realized who Jesus was, they could not contain themselves. They immediately packed everything, returned to Jerusalem, found the disciples, saying that Jesus has risen from the dead. They must have had a journey to be remembered for rest of their lives.
I'm so touched by the way Jesus spent quality time with these two men. He came along side, breaking bread and sharing the scriptures with them. I have not read this passage quite like this before. It reminded me of times when my heart was stirred up as I experienced God's presence closely as the two men did. I want to experience Living God daily and be convicted in knowing Jesu as my Lord and savior whom I worship with all my heart and soul. I want to continue in my faith journey to be a person who can walk along, breaking bread, and sharing the scriptures with others as Jesus did.
Lord thank you for your words today. You convicted me once again that you are a Living God in my life. Cause me to experience you closely not only through the reading of your words but also by being that person who can walk along, breaking bread and sharing scriptures with others around me. May I experience vibrant and active faith journey today and throughout this week.
