Bible in One Year Passages:
Luke 21:10-19, Hebrews 3:7-19, Isaiah 11-12
15 There is gold and abundance of costly stones,
but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
These verses of proverbs describe the importance of being right with God, how it continues to bless even the following generation and allows us to to winnow evil. However, it points out that it is not by our own ability to keep pure as we are born sinners, showing our sinfulness even as child and continues in every dealings through cheating, lying, and wanting to gain without work. The last verse concludes with a comparison of the "lips of knowledge" as a precious jewel, valued above all other abundant gold and costly stones of this world.
Today's verses have once again shown and taught me to value the everlasting life over worldly material goods. As taught during the past Sunday's sermon, it is a choice between temporary material pursuit in this world versus a permanent life with God. I need to constantly remind myself of this choice as I live each day, to value being aligned with God over gaining wealth and other temporary worldly desires. This can only be done by knowing Him through his Words, being immersed in the Scriptures.
Lord,
I value and desire you more than anything this world can offer. I want to know you more by reading your words. Thank you for leading me with the Holy Spirit to you and your values. I desire to focus on you and desire only you for you provide everlasting life, much more than the temporary gains of this world. Lord, I pray that you'll guide me and remind me to seek you and follow you, for I desire your favor and blessing upon my children. Amen.
