Bible in One Year Passages:
The Lesson of the Fig Tree
29 And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away
This was particularly difficult for me and I had to look at different resources. I am not sure if I am writing down what is the appropriate observation but I believe what I am writing is the simplest. I encourage the reader to do his/her own prayer and research and see what the Holy Spirit is revealing to you.
1) The fig tree may have been mentioned in Luke 21 since the prophecy of the end in Isaiah also mentions the fig tree.
"All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree."Isaiah 34:4
2) Regarding "this generation will not pass away until all has taken place" could mean that the last generation of Christians would not perish until all was fulfilled.
We as believers need to be ready for Christ's return.
Dear Father in Heaven,
Please help us to lead lives each day as if Christ was to return on this day and at any moment. Fill our hearts with the desire to please you, serve our fellow man, and share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who do not know your Son.
Amen.
